Thermal management for LED headlights

Thermal Management for LED headlights

The most important factor for the correct operating temperature of LED headlights is a good thermal management. Too high temperatures have a noticeable impact on the service life and the luminous flux.

Quite often only the efficiency or the better colour temperature of the light are considered in LED technology. However high luminance also means a high temperature in the chip. If the temperature of the chip increases, the service life is reduced and likewise the effectiveness of the LED substrate. If the chip is cooled however, the service life is significantly prolonged.

SEPA EUROPE has both compact and powerful radial fans in its program that are specially adapted to the requirements of the headlight technology. The blowers are slim line and equipped with the reliable MagFix®sleeve bearing. The sleeve bearing was treated with special thermally stable lubricants and thus offers the user considerably more possibilities. The fan can be used at an operating temperature of up to 85°C. Thanks to the MagFix® bearings, the blowers have a high service life expectancy that can reach up to 400 000 hours at 40°C. The PWM input in combination with the tacho output enables the speed to be both controlled and monitored.

Modern LED headlight concepts require reliable thermal management. Small, slim fans that are specially adapted to the LED technology and that are responsible for the reliable dissipation of excessive heat ensure long-term, fault-free operation.

SEPA EUROPE specializes in customized cooling solutions. Thanks to over 30 years of experience SEPAEUROPE has a solution for virtually every task.
