Active or passive – one of the two cooling variants is not always the clearly better one. Cooling particularly hot zones, for example, is a task that requires creative and unusual ideas.

It is true that the components of electronic devices require less and less power, which is why it is often possible to dispense with forced ventilation (active cooling) of the device. However, the miniaturization of components and increasing packaging density make it difficult to dissipate heat from small, hot zones, the so-called hot spots. Passive heat sinks are usually too large and heavy for this purpose, which means that the advantage of small device dimensions would be lost.
